Description of responsibilities / scope of work

  • Serve as a focal point for the entirety of the New World project activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the project activities to ensure the results planned in the project document/project work plan.
  • To establish and maintain good working relations with all project partners (e.g. Coca-Cola, NOC, etc).
  • Provide the advisory support to the project steering committee and key stakeholders during the process of project implementation.
  • Provide liaison between UNDP project and other partners with regards to joint efforts for ensuring effective project implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance during implementation of the outreach campaign, which includes interviews by the Olympic champions and other youth opinion leaders broadcasted on national TV, and lectures on the healthy lifestyle benefits given at schools by the National Olympic Committee professionals.
  • Support implementation of the nation-wide contest “Olympic lifestyle” in Ukrainian schools to compete in different sports activities that promote healthy lifestyle.
  • Support organization of the Olympic camp in Carpathians for the winners of the contest.
  • Coordinate carrying out a survey in the participating schools before and after the contest assessing the number of students who started doing sports as a result of the promo campaign and the contest
  • Provide up to date information to the Project manager about project implementation progress.
  • Ensure preparation of information on the process and results of the projects implementation for the distribution in mass and social media, highlight the main achievements at the UNDP website.
  • To organize, administer, coordinate meetings, capacity building activities, missions within the New World Project.
  • Assist in preparing the Final Report on results of implementation of the project.

Deliverables

 The key deliverables and respective implementation schedule are as follows:

  • First inception report including  finalized all project descriptions and action plans, the performance monitoring system for the project implementation, briefs information on projects implementation for mass media; the  description of key partners involvement and role in the project implementation; should be submitted not later than 1 month after the date of start of the contract ( by March 7, 2015).
  • Second report including the description of all fulfilled tasks, results and obstacles of the projects implementation, briefs information on projects implementation for mass media; should be submitted not later than 3 months after the date of start of the contract (by May 29, 2015).
  • Third report including the description of all fulfilled tasks, results and obstacles of the projects implementation, briefs on projects implementation for mass media; should be submitted not later than 5 months after the date of start of the contract (by August 20, 2015).
  • Fifth final report including description of results of projects implementation, briefs on projects results implementation for mass media, description all fulfilled tasks and lessons learned; should be submitted not later than 7 months after the date of start of the contract (by October 5, 2015).

Proposed payment schedule

UNDP will pay the negotiated amount in four tranches according to the following payment schedule:

  • the first payment upon submission and approval of the First inception report ( 25%);
  • the second payment upon submission and approval of the Second report ( 25%);
  • the third payment upon submission and approval of the Third report ( 25%);
  • the fifths payment upon submission and approval of the Fourth final report (25%).

Monitoring/reporting requirements

The HLS Coordinator will report to UNDP Project Manager on implementation of the projects on a monthly basis through meetings or emails. Also, Coordinator will present a Final Report of all projects summarizing activities and results obtained.

  • Good communication skills;
  • Good analytical and written skills;
  • Initiative and ability to work independently as same as in a team;
  • Computer literacy.

  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;

Fulfills all obligations to gender sensitivity and zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Basic higher education (Master/Specialist degree) or equivalent in Management, Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences or other relevant field. PhD is an asset;

Experience: 

  • At least 3 years of experience in coordination of projects or project components;
  • At least of 2 years of practical experience in the field of youth and sport, healthy life style promotion, awareness campaign development or implementation;
  • Experience in working for or with international organization will be considered as an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Ukrainian, Russian and English.
