Association for Experience, Learning and Training in Youth Work (ELT, Vienna), Donetsk Youth Debate Centre (Donetsk, Ukraine) and Center for Educational Initiatives (Lviv, Ukraine) are about to start a new three month project “Europe is more than Football 2012”.

24 volunteers from 8 European countries will be working with children and teenagers (6-14 years old) before, during and after the European Football Championship 2012 in Ukraine in two hosting cities – Donetsk and Lviv, bringing a spirit of international friendship to kids who will hardly have any contacts with international guests and any chances to get to the stadiums or fun-zones but had been waiting for the sport event for several years.

Together with international and local volunteers we hope to create the spirit of international sport event for local kids and teenagers and learn a little bit more about Europe than only football.

Who is a mentor?

Mentor is a person responsible for personal support of the volunteer. Mentor should be open, communicative and have good problem-solving skills. The main task of a mentor is to help the volunteer to integrate into the local community. It’s a unique chance to get to know a foreigner closer and discover another culture.

DEADLINE for applications is 1.05.2012. Mentor should be available during the whole period of the service (1.05-30.07.2012), especially during first weeks.

Who is a playground leader?

Playground leader is a Ukrainian volunteer who helps EVS volunteers in running their activities, especially with translation. If you want to practice your English (German, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Romanian, Turkish as well), if you like to play with children and just want to have fun – than you are more than welcome to become part of the project!
