Chemonics International Inc. is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of Driver. 

The United States Agency for International Development in Ukraine (USAID/Ukraine) has awarded Chemonics International a contract (“Ukraine Democratic Governance East Activity” or “DG East”) to support USAID/Ukraine’s objectives of promoting inclusive civic identity, common civic values, and a unified Ukraine by addressing the divisive impacts of Russia’s aggression, cases of far-right Ukrainian nationalism, and the consequences of ongoing armed conflict through increased citizen participation, improved service delivery and more responsive governance. DG East purpose is to strengthen the connection and trust between citizens and their government in Eastern Ukraine and to (1) develop greater acceptance of a shared civic culture based on common values and understandings, and (2) increase participation to improve Ukraine’s governance and reform processes and help to resolve community problems. Activities across the two objectives are implemented across five project offices: Kyiv, Kramatorsk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, and Kherson. The position will be based in Kherson.

 

Responsibilities for this position include:
 
 
       •  Drive Project vehicle(s): provide safe transportation to and from locations for Project staff;
 
       • Ensure compliance with all Project’s and local driving laws and regulations;
 
       • Ensure that the vehicles undertake regular service intervals;
 
       • Arrange for minor repairs and ensure that the vehicles are kept clean;
 
       • Ensure that the Project vehicle(s) is used only for official/authorized business, as advised by the supervisor;
 
       • Make sure that the daily log sheet is prepared, and a monthly report is prepared summarizing statistics linked to mileage, fuel consumption etc. for the vehicle;
 
       • Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions, which involves Project and its staff;
 
       • Take proper measures to reduce potential security threats to the Project staff or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes;
 
       • Ensure that the steps required by the local rules and regulations (pertaining to driving) are taken in case of involvement in accident;
 
       • Contribute to a cooperative workplace by assisting colleagues including other teams when needed and within competencies and capacities;
 
       • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
 
 Qualifications:
 
 
       • Driver’s license and minimum 5 years’ experience without accidents;
 
       • Excellent knowledge of applicable Traffic Rules of Ukraine;
 
       • Skills in minor and emergency vehicle repair;
 
       • Well-developed sense of safety; presentable appearance; service and customer         focus approach;
 
       • Established awareness of security issues;
 
       • Command of Russian/Ukrainian;
 
       • Citizenship of Ukraine;
 
       • Secondary education or equivalent;
 
       • Working knowledge of English is a plus;
 
       • USAID or other Donor project experience is a plus;
 
       • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
 
       • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
