General information

MAGNA is a non-profit independent medical humanitarian organization. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Our teams are made up of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff.

We recruit medical and non-medical personnel, collect private and institutional funds and raise awareness among the public about populations in danger. Using a small but highly committed group of staff and volunteers, we have achieved respectable results. We treat patients suffering from a wide array of illnesses and health needs (child health, malnutrition, sexual violence, women health, mental health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, cholera and other diseases).

Currently we have open missions in South Sudan, DR Congo, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Ukraine and Cambodia. Since start we have worked in over 15 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and America.

In Ukraine, MAGNA has opened mission in 2020 and currently we are working all over Ukraine providing access to medical care for population in crisis through mobile health interventions and supplies donations to the hospitals. 

Job description

Accountabilities:

• Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the health and nutritional activities (PHC,NUT, MCH, HIV, SGBV, etc.), according to MAGNA protocols, standards and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.

• In close collaboration with other medical team members, identifying the needs of health support in the target population and participating in the definition, planning, organization and update of the appropriate MAGNA strategy and the health activities and its budget. Monitoring and evaluating health support activities. • Planning and supervising, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, potential detection, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required.

• Ensuring an efficient pharmacy management and monitoring the rational use of them. Supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs. Preparing the health and nutritional orders needed to implement the health and nutritional activities under his/her responsibility, and identifying and reporting to the line manager, non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport, etc.)

• Coordinating and ensuring that health activities (in and outside health facilities), with the clients are performed with regular follow-up in order to provide the most appropriate treatment for clients with health problems.

• Mapping and regularly updating the existing health services, including other INGO’s, local NGO’s, community groups and governmental health services, etc. and maintaining good and regular communication and collaboration with other components of the project according to objectives and context. Identifying possible advocacy issues and informing MC and PC before taking any action.

• Checking all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up (individual card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, transfers …) are carried out correctly and according to MAGNA procedures.

• Reviewing and developing the technical materials, tools, guidelines and documents, and coordinating and ensuring the implementation of all Health standard protocols and procedures set by MAGNA in order to provide the most appropriate treatment for patients.

• Participating in monthly reports according to guidelines (SitRep, statistical report, etc.) and reporting problematic situations and cases with the Medical Coordinator to help with decision making and problem resolution.

• Ensuring that patients coming to MAGNA facilities receive proper treatment including psychotropic medication and support either within an MAGNA program or thru referral to an appropriate resource

Requirements

Education: Medical doctor or paramedical degree.

Experience: Essential 2 year working experience related to the diploma/degree and previous experience in MAGNA in the field Language

Fluency in Ukrainian and good command of English – both oral and written.
