The Mission:  VOICE is currently operating in Ukraine and across affected border countries— working closely with local and international partners to promote women’s protection and empowerment. The Counter Trafficking Consultant will be responsible for mapping existing counter-trafficking work in Ukraine and bordering countries to assess how VOICE can best support women- and girl- led groups, organizations and networks, and individual activists working on counter trafficking.

This is a four month full-time consultancy with the potential for an extension based on the findings of the mapping and recommendations. The role will be either remote with frequent travel to the region or regionally-based. The Counter-Trafficking Specialist will be part of a team of regional technical positions reporting to the Regional Technical Adviser and work closely with country based teams.

Responsibilities

• •  Design and implement relevant assessment and mapping activities in Ukraine and in the region as determined necessary. This includes meetings with partners/ stakeholders working on counter-trafficking in Ukraine and border countries. A considerable focus of this assessment work must also be to understand the organizational capacity and sustainability of women’s rights organizations engaged in counter-trafficking work.
• •  Make recommendations related to counter-trafficking programming and advocacy gaps, including whether and how VOICE can best support local organizations in their counter-trafficking work.
• •  To the extent relevant, lead the planning and, where necessary, development of VOICE’s counter-trafficking projects, including, assisting with the development of new projects; and coordinate with external partners, as necessary, to facilitate project planning and development.

Qualifications and Competencies

• •  3-5 years experience working counter trafficking and/or VAWG in Central and Eastern Europe.
• •  Proven in-depth knowledge and understanding of the issue of human trafficking in Ukraine and globally.
• •  Strong mobiliser, organizer, and communicator.
• •  Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a diverse team to support the delivery of the strategy.
• •  Has a clear vision for women and girl’s leading the way for addressing VAWG in their communities, countries, regions and globally while centering and highlighting their voices.
• •  A critical thinker who understands power structures and works to dismantle them.
• •  Strong networking and facilitation skills..

Contract period: This is  a four month full-time consultancy with the potential for an extension based on the findings of the mapping and recommendation.
